PURPOSE: To place both forward and return paths to serve for conveying passengers by dividing a concentric circular belt in horizontal projection of a footstep unit cylindrical ring equally in a radial direction and arranging a footstep body, which forms a part of this cylindrical ring, so as to up-down move along a virtual column wall and to turn around.

CONSTITUTION: A footstep body 1 constitutes a protrusive vertical machine 2a in a front end side surface and a recessed groove 2b, fitted together with the protrusive machine 2a, in a rear end both side surfaces, and a cylindrical ring is formed by arranging the protrusive machine and the recessed groove to be meshed with each other. When guide rails 6a, 6b, 6c for supporting running wheels 3a, 3b, 3c and 4a, 4b, 4c are constituted as developed in a plane, a train of the footstep bodies 1 is transferred from a staircase-shaped up-moving stroke to a down-moving stroke via a horizontal transfer and turned to make one round similarly via a lower part running. When sizes of drive gears 8a and 8b are set so that ratios of outer radii R0 to internal radii Ri of the cylindrical rings formed by the train of the footsteps are set equal, an equal driving speed is obtained without generating unreasonable footstep running.
