This bacterium is a new ethanolamine-decomposing Pseudomonas sp. ETA-1 (FERM P-15,106) belonging to the genus Pseudomonas, capable of decomposing ethanolamine and is useful for biologically treating water containing ethanolamine discharged from a heat exchanger of a nuclear power generation plant, a thermal power generation plant, etc. The ethanolamine- decomposing bacterium is found by culturing a bacterium collected from a river, etc., into which ethanolamine is expected to flow in a medium comprising ethanolamine as a nitrogen source. A measuring cylinder 2 packed with an ethanolamine-containing medium 3 is placed in a constant temperature bath 1, air 5 is introduced the bath by an air pump 4, the bacterium is cultured and ethanolamine in the medium can be decomposed.
