Abstract:
To obtain a new ether compound exhibiting extremely natural aroma and flavor and capable of imparting a functional action, even when added to a perfume or flavor agent and then highly diluted.
A compound of the formula (R is H or an acetyl). For example, 1,1-methoxy-3-hexanethiol. For example, the compound of the formula (R is H) is obtained by subjecting clary sage to a steam distillation, collecting a head fraction to obtain an oil which evaporates a desired sulfur aroma, subjecting the oil to a fractional distillation using a Fisher type column coated with Teflon (R) at low atmospheric pressures and subsequently subjecting the obtained fraction at 60-110°C/1.6×103 Pa to a chromatography using a Labor B type column and a pentane/diethyl ether mixture as an eluent.
