To provide an easily treatable ether dimer having high crystal purity, and suitably usable in various fields as a raw material or the like for a resist material for a color filter, or a coating material, required for the production of a liquid crystal display; and to provide a method for purifying the ether dimer.
The method for purifying the ether dimer including a step for crystallizing the ether dimer from a solvent involves the step for crystallizing the ether dimer by using an organic solvent and an aqueous solvent. The organic solvent can dissolve the ether dimer and the aqueous solvent. The purification method involves preferably carrying out the crystallization of the ether dimer by regulating the mass ratio of the organic solvent to the ether dimer so as to be 0.35-3.50.
