To obtain a preparation for controlling indoor acarids, capable of effectively controlling various kinds of acarids inhabiting in the room by including a specific ethylene glycol derivative as an active ingredient.
This preparation for controlling indoor acarids contains an ethylene glycol derivative of formula I [X is H or I; R is H, a 1-10C alkyl, an allyl, propargyl, 3-iodo-2-propynyl or a (substituted) benzenesulfonyl; n is 1-5], (e.g. diethylene glycol ethyl propargyl ether). A compound of formula II (R1 is a 3-10C branched alkyl, an allyl or propargyl; n' is 1-3), [e.g. ethylene glycol isobutyl (3-iodo-2-propynyl) ether] in the compound of formula I is a new compound, and especially excellent in activities for controlling the indoor acarids. When the indoor acarids are controlled by scattering the active ingredient, the amount of application is preferably ≥10 mg expressed in terms of the active ingredient per m3 indoor space.
