A radiolabeled tissue-specific ligand, a method for preparing this radiolabeled ligand, a method of using this radiolabeled ligand for imaging tissue-specific diseases, and a composition for imaging tissue-specific diseases are provided. This imaging composition typically comprises ethylenedicysteine and a radionuclide label which is conjugated to the ethylenedicysteine on one or both acid arms and is chelated with a tissue-specific ligand. This ethylenedicysteine forms an N2S2 chelate having the radionuclide label. Naturally, this chelate compound contains an ionic bond between the radionuclide and the chelate compound.
