PURPOSE: To efficiently obtain titled polymer, useful as a medicine such as a diuretic etc., by the reaction of a specified phosphazene polymer, etophylline and a reactant of formula R-H (wherein R is 1W3C alkoxy etc.).
CONSTITUTION: An etophylline-modified phosphazene polymer of formula III (wherein X is 0.1W1) is obtained by the reaction of a phosphazene polymer of formula I (wherein n is 3W10,000), etophylline of formula II and a reactant of formula R-H (wherein R is 1W3C alkoxy, propylamino or phenoxy) at once or in an arbitrary order. The reaction is carried out in an organic solvent such as benzene, xylene or ethylene glycol. Caustic soda, triethylamine, etc. is preferably used as a scavenger of hydrogen chloride.
USE: A medicine such as a diuretic, cardiac or muscular relaxants.
