Abstract:

PURPOSE: To evaluate the nuclear life for an advanced control rod for typical example of hafnium (Hf).
CONSTITUTION: An unused non-irradiated control rod or a simulated control rod simulating the main part of it is set as a reference control rod with known components. A calibration curve is made from the neutron transmittance, burnup dependent transmittance and burnup dependent reactivity to this reference control rod and the reactivity of an irradiated control rod is evaluated from the calibration curve and the neutron transmittance in the irradiated control rod. And the nuclear life of the irradiated control rod is evaluated from the relation between reactivity reduction rate accompanied by irradiation determined independently and life.
