To provide an evaporator for use in the refrigeration cycle of a car air conditioner in which conventional fixing space for expansion valve, piping and capillary tube is not required, the degree of freedom can be enhanced significantly in the design of a refrigeration system and the cost is reduced while facilitating maintenance and inspection by concentrating the components.
A plurality of stripe tube elements 1 constituting a heat exchanging passage and having tank parts 11-13 at the end are laid in layer in the thickness direction. An inner pipe 7 having one end coupled with a refrigerant inlet 4a is laid in a tank space 16a where the tank parts 11,... of the tube elements 1,... are interconnected in the laying direction. An orifice tube 8 is charged, as a pressure reducing/expanding means, into the inner pipe 7.
