PURPOSE: To make it possible to excavate a non-circular section by providing an excavator with a casing having a non-circular section, a rotary shaft, a hammer giving striking force to an excavation bit and cylinders for vibrating the hammer.
CONSTITUTION: An excavator is equipped with a casing 11 with a non-circular section, a rotary shaft 12, a hammer 13 giving striking force to an excavation bit 131, and cylinders 14a and 14b bored between the casing 11 and a middle part of the hammer 13 and vibrating the hammer 13. Then, casing 11 is placed on a bedrock 90 to be excavated, striking force is given to the excavation bit 131 by supplying compressed air intermittently through air supply holes 121 and 134 and, at the same time, the rotary shaft 12 is rotated to provide torque to the excavation bit 131. Then, the bedrock 990 is excavated with the excavation bit 131 by striking force and torque, at the same time, the cylinders 14a and 14b are alternately expanded, and when the hammer 13 is vibrated with the basic end 132 as the center, the excavation bit 131 is horizontally reciprocated, and the lower part of the casing 11 is ovally excavated.
