In this exchange function setting contents display method of the PHS digital cordless telephone, by making the items of customized exchange function setting between the master unit CS and the slave unit PS correspond by prescribed setting numbers and providing the respective setting parameters of the setting OFF/setting ON/confirmation of an exchange function, the master unit is turned to an exchange function setting state first. Secondly, the slave PS is off-hooked, the setting number and the setting parameter are dialed and exchange function setting is performed. The slave unit PS is on-hooked and disconnected thirdly. Fourthly, the master unit CS automatically calls back the slave unit PS, a character or a numeral for indicating the set exchange function setting contents is put into the origination sub-address of an information element inside the call setting message and it is sent and displayed at the display device 11 of the slave unit PS.
