EXHAUST COLLECTING DEVICE AND ITS MANUFACTURE

PURPOSE: To prevent the device from being cracked, lighten it and simplify its manufacture by forming one exhaust pipeline and its confluence section oat of main pipe made material, and also forming the other exhaust pipeline out of subpipe made material.
CONSTITUTION: A main exhaust path made out of main pipe made material is connected to an exhaust manifold 4 at one side of a V-type engine 1. A sub-exhaust path 13 made out of sub-pipe made material is also connected to an exhaust manifold 5 at the other side of the engine. Apaspage hole 12 is formed over the main pipe material, and a slice 14 consisting of a part of a guide section 15 is formed at the periphery section of the passage hole 12 at the upstream side of exhaust gas. Furthermore, the subpipe material forming the sub-exhaust path 13 i welded to a section enclosing the passage hole 12 and the slice 14 so as to be joined in such a way that the sub-exhaust path 13 and the downstream section 11A of the confluence section of the main exhaust path 11 are formed into an U shape via the confluence section 8 By this constitution, since force is small, which restrains the confluence section 8 from being deformed, no stress concentration appears in the confluence section 8, stresses are dispersed, and the occurrence of cracks can thereby be prevented.
