Abstract:
To properly regenerate a NOx trapping catalyst by accurately estimating the accumulation amount of a trace of SOx exhausted from an engine.
The amount of SOx exhausted from the engine at each of given intervals depending on an operated condition is calculated as a change rate basic value Dslfb. Further, a change rate upper limit value Dslfmx is calculated as the maximum value for an amount of possible accumulation on the NOx trapping catalyst per given interval depending on the activated condition of the NOx trapping catalyst. A value for the Dslfb or the Dslfmx, whichever smaller, is set as an accumulation amount change rate Dslf, and an accumulation amount Sslf is found by integrating the Dslf.
