Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust emission control device capable of avoiding deterioration of Nox purification rate of exhaust gas when a deactivatable cylinder is operated again in a cylinder deactivation engine.SOLUTION: An exhaust emission control device includes an always operated cylinder catalyst 33 through which exhaust gas discharged from a first cylinder #1 and a fourth cylinder #4 as always operated cylinders passes, and a deactivatable cylinder catalyst 34 through which exhaust gas discharged from a second cylinder #2 and a third cylinder #3 as deactivatable cylinders passes. The deactivatable cylinder catalyst 34 is set to have oxygen occluding ability lower than the always operated cylinder catalyst 33. Further, the deactivatable cylinder catalyst 34 is composed of NOx occlusion catalyst.
