To provide an EGR cooler capable of cooling a low-pressure EGR gas and a high-pressure EGR gas while suppressing the deterioration of the mountability of an internal combustion engine, the increase of the cost, and the increase of the fuel consumption in an exhaust emission control system using both a low-pressure EGR device and a high-pressure EGR device.
A high-pressure EGR cooling pipe 11 and a low-pressure EGR cooling pipe 12 are so installed as to extend through the inside of the core 6 of the EGR cooler 14. A high-pressure EGR passage 15 is connected to both ends of the high-pressure EGR cooling pipe 11. The low-pressure EGR passage 23 is connected to both ends of the low-pressure EGR cooling pipe 12. Cooling water flows into the core 6 through a cooling water circulation system formed of a cooling water inflow passage 4 and a cooling water outflow passage 42. Since the high-pressure EGR gas and the low-pressure EGR gas can be cooled by one core 16, the functions of the high-pressure EGR cooler and the low-pressure EGR cooler can be realized by one EGR cooler 14.
