To provide an exhaust emission control system which can improve the efficiency of catalytic activity and which can suppress a pressure loss caused by accumulation of particulates which are discharged from an internal combustion engine.
The exhaust emission control system is provided with a first purification section and a second purification section which is arranged on the downstream side of the first purification section. The first purification section has a metal honeycomb structure to which a first oxidation catalyst is carried, and the second purification section has a particulate filter to which a second oxidation catalyst is carried. The second oxidation catalyst has different carrying amounts of a catalyst between the upstream side and the downstream side of the exhaust gas path.
