To provide a particulate filter with a catalyst supporting member arranged in a cell for supporting a catalyst, the catalyst supporting member being formed at a higher degree of freedom in design.
A gas introduction cell 10a is partitioned from a gas exhaust cell 10b with a partition wall 11. A sub partition wall 12 is arranged in the gas introduction cell 10a. The sub partition wall 12 is formed separately from the partition wall 11. The sub partition wall 12 is joined to a plug member 13b of the gas exhaust cell 10b into one unit. The sub partition wall 12 and the plug member 13b are tapered at their upstream side ends to prevent the accumulation of particulates thereon. A coating of the catalyst or a NOx adsorbing layer is applied onto the surface of each of the partition wall and the sub partition wall.
