PURPOSE: To improve the performance of an exhaust gas treating device by means of a glow discharge plasma.
CONSTITUTION: The device is a cylindrical container having an inner wall 6, which an exhaust gas is passed through and is made of dielectric, and an outer wall 2. It is provided with an internal electrode 7 provided in the inside surface of the inner wall 6, an external electrode 1 provided in the outside surface of the outer wall 2, a mesh-shaped interior electrode 4 which is provided almost coaxially between the inner wall 6 and the outer wall 2, a first intermediate wall 3 which is provided holding the above intermediate electrode in between and is made of dielectric, and a second intermediate wall 5. Also, the intermediate electrode 4 and the internal electrode 7, and the intermediate electrode 4 and the external electrode 1, are each connected with a high voltage power source.
