Abstract:
PURPOSE: To reliably regenerate an upper side filter and a lower side filter.
CONSTITUTION: Exhaust particulate scavenging two filters 5A and 5B which are enclosed in a filter case 1 are arranged in parallel in an engine exhaust passage, and these filters 5A and 5B are mutually arranged above and below in the vertical direction. Regerating heaters 9A and 9B are arranged in the respective filters 5A and 5B. Here, when the filters 5A and 5B are regenerated, current-carrying is started with a time difference in order of the heater 9A of the upper side filter 5A from the heater 9B of the lower side filter 5B.
