This exhaust system for the engine includes: an exhaust outlet passage for exhaust gas discharged with a turbine wheel provided in the turbine of an exhaust turbosupercharger; a bypass passage connecting an exhaust passage arranged upstream of the turbine wheel and the exhaust outlet passage and forming an exhaust passage bypassing the turbine wheel; and the wastegate valve opening/closing the bypass passage. The distance of a zone from the turbine wheel-side end of the exhaust outlet passage to a connection of the exhaust outlet passage and bypass passage is more than twice the diameter of the turbine wheel-side end of the exhaust outlet passage.
