To provide an exhibit information providing system and an exhibit information providing method whereby an appreciator can simply acquire information associated with an exhibit and an author or the like in an exhibition or the like, so as to deepen the understanding of the exhibit furthermore and improve its own satisfaction rating.

The exhibit information providing system is characterized by including: an information storage medium provided to an exhibit, the information storage medium having a storage means for storing identification information to particularize the exhibit; and an information terminal possessed by the appreciator, the information terminal including: a display means for displaying exhibit information; a voice output means for outputting the exhibit information in voice; a means for reading the identification information stored in the information storage medium; a storage means for storing the exhibit information associated with the identification information; and a control means for extracting the exhibit information stored in the storage medium associated with the identification information from the storage means on the basis of the identification information read from the information storage medium and displaying the exhibit information on the display means or allowing the voice output means to output the information in voice.
