Abstract:
To provide a compound forming a long life triplet state in high yield, having properties to act as an efficient photosensitizer in forming a singlet oxygen and enhanced in usefulness with its high chemical stability together with suitable solubility to polar solvents such as water.
The compound is an expanded porphyrin having a structure expressed by formula 1 (wherein substituents R1, R2, R3, R4 and R5 express each independently an alkyl, an amino, hydroxy, an alkoxy, carboxy, a carboxamide, an ester, an amide, a sulfonate, a substituted alkyl, asubstituted ester, a substituted ether or a substituted amide; M expresses a divalent or a trivalent metal cation; n expresses a number between -5 and +5).
