PURPOSE: To provide an extensible pipe device which can make extension and contraction smoothly by a single operation without requiring manual fixation and which ensures easy work in assembling and maintenance.

CONSTITUTION: A spring 49 is incorporated in an inner pipe 4 which moves within an outer pipe 3 in the vertical direction, and a cam rod 46 is held normally in the specified position by this spring 49 and sinks when a press is given. A supporting member 47 is furnished at the bottom of the cam rod 46 support a sphere 50 which is interposed between an inner and an outer pipe 3, 4, and the top 45 is contacted with a cam 52 furnished in the inner pipe 3, and the cam 52 is rotated by turning an earring knob 53 formed outside the inner pipe 4. When the cam 52 is worked, the cam rod 46 sinks so that the pressure contacting of the two pipes 3, 4 by the sphere 50 is disengaged, and the inner pipe 4 is made movable vertically relative to the outer pipe 3. When the cam 52 remains out of work, the two pipes 3, 4 are put in pressure contact by the sphere 50 so that the inner pipe 4 is held at the specified level of outer pipe 3.
