Abstract:
To ease shock given to an obstacle when a conventional external air bag device for a vehicle is in a non-operating state.
An external air bag device 18 for a vehicle according to this invention is adapted for inflating and developing the air bag 71 along the outside of a windshield 13 and its periphery of the vehicle 10. The air bag 71 is positioned in a folded state at the rear edge 15a of a hood 15. An inflator 81 for generating gas to inflate the air bag 71 is separated from the air bag 71, positioned in a vehicle body inner space 52, such as around a dashboard 33 which divides an engine room 31 from a vehicle interior 32. The inflator 81 is connected to the air bag 71 by a flexible tube 91 for supplying gas.
