Abstract:
To provide a vibration damping device to decrease weight, to reduce a cost, and to diminish required energy.
An external force suppression type vibration damping device comprises a moving plate 1 arranged at the side of a structure 2 and varying its inclination; a sensor 11 arranged at the structure 2 and detecting vibration of the structure 2; and a controller 10 to input a signal from the sensor 11 and control inclination of the moving plate 1. Since a tensile force against a tensile force generated by wind blowing against the structure 2 is generated by the thin and light moving plate 1, a low-cost device suppresses vibration of the structure by low energy even during a high wind speed.
