PURPOSE: To obtain an external preparation for skin having proper water solubility, stably mixable, showing synergistically preventing effect on aging of skin with a small amount, blended with a specific derivative of astaxanthin capable of eliminating oxygen in a singlet state, as one kind of carotenoid.
CONSTITUTION: This external preparation for skin mixed with one or more selected from a complex of formula I (X is a water-soluble vitamin residue such as thiamine, riboflavin, 1-β-D-ribofuranosylnicontinamide, 1-β-D- ribofuranosylnicotinic acid, pyridoxal, pyridoxine, pyridoxamine, pantothenic acid and ascorbic acid) of astaxanthin, a water-soluble vitamin and a phosphoric diester, a complex of formula II of astaxanthin, a water-soluble vitamin and a pyrophosphoric diester and a complex of having III of astaxanthin, a water-soluble vitamin and a sulfuric diester. The external preparation is useful as a liquid, emulsion, cream, ointment, toilet lotion or milky lotion. The amount of the complex added to the external preparation is properly about 0.001-20wt.%.
