Abstract:
To restrict access to data in an external storage device when connection to a host is lost even if power is not off.
After an initialization process (S10), an access control part of the external storage device performs password authentication (S20, S30). If the authentication is successful, the successful authentication state is stored and the host computer is notified that an HD storage part is accessible (S40). Subsequently, it is decided whether SOF packets are periodically sent from the host computer (S50), and if periodic sending is interrupted (S50: NO), the connection to the host computer is assumed lost and the stored successful authentication state is deleted (S60).
