Abstract:

To obtain the subject new enzyme containing s specific amino acid sequence, having extreme thermostable ribulose bisphosphate carboxylase, catalyzing a photosynthetic reaction, produced from a host cell by using a gene isolated from an extreme thermophilic archaebacterium.

This extreme thermostable ribulose bisphosphate carboxylase contains an amino acid sequence of the formula or a new extreme thermostable ribulose bisphosphate carboxylase comprises its modified substance containing an amino acid sequence in which one or plural amino acids are deleted, substituted or added in the amino acid sequence of the formula and having ribulose bisphosphate carboxylase activity and is an enzyme for catalyzing a photosynthetic reaction and is used as a marker in the classification of a plant, a cell marker in cell fusion, etc. The enzyme is obtained by isolating a DNA of extreme thermostable ribulose bisphosphate carboxylase from extreme thermophilic archaebacterium KOD-1 strain, transferring the DNA to a host cell and culturing the DNA.
