To display a large and a distinct game central figure by means of a small display capacitance of an LCD by moving the game hero in a game stage set in an RAM in a square unit and scroll-displaying the background of the game stage in an opposite direction to the direction of the game hero accompanying the movement.
(m×n)-number square areas 31b being sufficiently smaller than an (M×N)-number are provided for an LCD 2, stage line segments for respectively displaying stage lines are arranged in the upper, lower, left and right sides of the respective square areas 31b and also a hero segment 34 is arranged in one square area of a center part. Then, by a microcomputer 10, state information of the total (m×n)-number squares of the square where the game hero 34 is positioned and the squares around it in the (M×N)-number squares of virtual game space in an RAM 13 is picked-up and its state is displayed in the LCD 2. When the game hero moves from one game stage to another, the background is scroll-displayed in the opposite direction to the direction of the hero.
