To obtain a flame-retardant fabric, knit or nonwoven fabric of flame- retardant rayon yarns and cotton yarns obtained by impregnating a non-flammable liquid into the flame retardant fabric, knit or nonwoven fabric, and drying the impregnated fabric or the like, to aim to early extinguish a fire caused by an oil for frying, and further to provide a method of extinguishing the fire by using the flame retardant fabric, knit or nonwoven fabric.

This fabric, knit or nonwoven fabric for extinguishing a fire caused by an oil for frying is characterized in that the fabric, knit or nonwoven fabric obtained by using a rayon yarn and cotton yarn including a non-flammable liquid impregnated therein can extinguish a fire caused by the oil for flying in its early stages by covering the ignited oil container for the frying by the flame-retardant fabric, knit or nonwoven fabric, or casting the flame-retardant fabric, knit or nonwoven fabric, formed into a round shape, into the ignited oil container.
