PURPOSE: To enable the user of the receiver to discriminate whether the reception is disabled because of a deteriorated reception state or because a signal is in existence between pages or between programs.

CONSTITUTION: An FC error detection section 10 outputs an error bit number of a frame synchronization code inputted from a decode section 4. A bit error rate control section 12 stores an error bit number to an FIFO buffer 13 and revises a cumulative error bit number counter 14 to obtain an accumulated error bit number of a frame synchronization code by n-frames and displays the degree on a display device 11.
