PURPOSE: To prevent the erroneous retransmission of a facsimile by making a response from the facsimile response equipment so as to recognize the execution of normal reception by a called party side when the ringing signal of the erroneous facsimile is received.

CONSTITUTION: When a telephone set 7 receives the erroneous ringing signal coming from the external facsimile equipment, a user operates a response switch means 6 and switches a telephone line from the telephone set 7 to a response processing means 4 by a switching means 5. The means 4 outputs a response signal and an identification signal to the facsimile equipment of the called party side. Then, the facsimile equipment of the called party side transmits the message signal and when an end signal is transmitted in the case of ending, the means 4 transmits the confirmation signal. Thus, since the facsimile equipment of the called party side recognizes the execution of normal communication, the erroneous retransmission of facsimile can be prevented.
