To provide a fall detection system for accurately identifying a position at which a person falls down.
The fall detection system is provided with a portable terminal 100 and a monitoring device 200. The portable terminal 100 includes a camera 110 and a communication part 120 which transmits an image which is picked up with the camera 110. The monitoring device 200 includes a communication part 210 which receives the image transmitted from the portable terminal 100, a detection part 220 which detects a person having the portable terminal 100, as a fallen person, when there is no change in the received image for at least a prescribed period of time, an alarming part 230 which raises the alarm when the fall is detected, and a display part 240 which displays the received image.
