To refer to data adapted to an event, which becomes a topic in TV broadcasting, by extracting a keyword from temporarily stored video and audio signals, retrieving and displaying information from a data broadcasting data base on the basis of extracted data with operation from a user.

TV broadcasting is received and separated to video/audio signals and data signals. Data are restored from the data signals by a data broadcasting decoder 5 and the keyword is extracted by an arithmetic processor 1. The keyword and the data are registered into a data base 3 for data broadcasting while being related. The video/audio signals are digitized and stored in a temporary storage device 2 for video/audio. When the request of data extraction from the user is obtained from an input device 8, the arithmetic processor 1 reads data from the storage device 2, and the keyword is provided by a keyword extracting device 10. On the basis of the keyword, retrieval is performed from the data base 3 and the matched data are displayed on a video display device 7.
