PURPOSE: To obtain a normalized feature signal by installing a processing means which makes a sensor generate an analog voltage showing the profile of a component, and generates a digital display of the profile of the component, in response to the analog voltage.
CONSTITUTION: By an annular surface 32 of a rotary bowl component supplying equipment 33, a bolt 30 is carried between a sensor 22 and a light source 20. The bolt 30 has a head 30A and a trunk part 30B on which a screw is formed. When the bolt 30 passes the part between the light source 20 and the sensor 22, a light beam 24 is cut off by the bolt 30. The amount of the light beam which is cut off is a function of the profile of the bolt 30. The head 30A cuts off the light beam 24 more than the trunk part 30B. In a microcomputer 48, the analog signal outputted from the sensor 22 is converted into digital values by an A/D converter, and processed. As a result, the profile of the bolt 30 is subjected to digital display.
