Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a feed additive capable of protecting vitamins from decomposition factors such as water or oxygen and enhancing the stability of the vitamins in the feed by mixing the vitamins or carotenoids with a binder and then granulating the resultant mixture into a specific size.

CONSTITUTION: The objective feed additive is obtained by mixing vitamins with carotenoids essential to or useful for growth of animals with a binder (e.g. potato starch, corn starch or gelatin) and then granulating the resultant mixture into 0.1-100mm3 size. This additive is preferably produced at 60-100°C by using a a single- and a twin-screw extruders. After-spraying fats and oils to the resultant grains in an amount of 1-10% based on the product weight, is preferred for maintaining the stability of the vitamins in the feed.
