To refill recording material with a feeding cassette mounted to a recording device while preventing curled deformation of the end of the recording material stored in the feeding cassette when the feeding cassette is left for a long period while being mounted to the recording device, in the feeding cassette mounted in a substantially vertically raised state or an obliquely inclined position with respect to the recording device.
When a hopper 16 protrudes, a recording paper P stored in the feeding cassette 10 is pushed by the hopper 16, abuts on a feeding roller 71, and also is sandwiched between the feeding roller 71 and the surface of the hopper 16 supporting the recording paper P. When the hopper 16 retreats, the recording paper P is separated from the feeding roller 71. The hopper 16 protrudes in conjunction with the closing operation of an opening/closing lid 12 and retreats in conjunction with the opening operation of the opening/closing lid 12.
