Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a fiber having good solvent resistance and thermal shape stability by specifying the residual catalyst amount of a cycloolefin copolymer.
CONSTITUTION: At least a partially crystalline cycloolefin copolymer with 100 ppm residual catalyst amount is meltspinned. The cycloolefin is obtained by bulk polymerization (mass-polymerization) or solvent polymerization keeping a ring in existence of cycloolefin or metallocene catalyst (EP 407870, DE 84036264). A fiber having similar solvent resistance to that of a polyethylene and polypropylene fiber is obtained.
