PURPOSE: To make a fiber machine apparatus (e.g. a carding machine) of a type having a working member (e.g. a needle cloth) and a built-in maintenance member (e.g. a grinding device) usable in a more flexible manner, and thereby make the function of the machine apparatus conformable to various requirements on use.

CONSTITUTION: A carding machine 10 is provided with a built-in type needle cloth-grinding device 26. The grinding device can move a grinding member over the working width of the carding machine from a waiting position. A controller 34 is placed for controlling the charging of the grinding member.
