PURPOSE:To prevent an increase in transmission loss in a juncture with ease of a connecting operation and to prevent fatigue failure by providing a regular angle between the plane inclusive of the central axes of respective polarization plane maintaining optical fibers and the main polarization axis direction of the respective polarization plane maintaining optical fibers. CONSTITUTION:The respective polarization plane maintaining optical fibers of the optical fiber tape 1 formed by arraying plural pieces of the polarization plane maintaining optical fibers 7 having coverings 6 in parallel to a plane shape and subjecting these fibers simultaneously to the coverings 6 are so arranged that the angle theta between the face 10 inclusive of all the central axes of the polarization plane maintaining optical fibers and the main polarization axis direction of the polarization plane maintaining optical fibers 7 is regular. The connection operation consisting of the polarization plane maintaining optical fibers is thereby facilitated and the deterioration in the characteristics in the juncture is decreased.
