Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a composite material for low temp. use, by containing a glass fiber fabric constituting a three-dimensional fabric, wherein at least one kind of yarns among warp yarns, weft yarns and vertical yarns extend linearily, in a thermosetting or thermoplastic resin in a ratio of 30W80vol.%.

CONSTITUTION: Weft yarns 2 extend in the lateral direction of warp yarns 1 to be folded back at both ends thereof and collect the warp yarns 1 positioned at both ends of each layer in the lateral Y-direction into one. Vertical yarns 3 pass between the warp yarns 1 and the weft yarns 2 to extend in the direction shown by an arrow 2 to integrally collect the upper and lower end layers of the warp yarns 1. This three-dimensional fabric A is impregnated with a resin B and cured to be unified. By this method, a composite material high in fiber content is obtained. In this case, the content of the three-dimensional fabric is within a range of 30W80vol.%. This composite material is low in heat shrinkability up to low temp. and useful as a fiber reinforced composite material for low temp. use.
