Title:
FIBER-REINFORCED VIBRATION-DAMPING COMPOSITE STRUCTURAL MATERIAL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH0196227
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain the titled material outstanding in strength and vibration- damping performance as a structural material for vehicles, ships and various structures, suitable also as a structural material for use in aerospace, by impregnating a carbon fiber substrate with a blend of epoxy resin and urethane elastomer followed by curing.

CONSTITUTION: (A) Pref. 5W30wt.% of a urethane elastomer is dissolved in e.g. a solvent (e.g. DMF), and the resulting solution is blended with (B) an epoxy resin followed by addition of a curing agent (e.g. and acid anhydride). Thence, (C) a carbon fiber substrate (e.g. a cloth) is impregnated with the resultant blend into a prepreg. These prepregs are laminated and cured to obtain the objective structural material.
