Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique to efficiently utilize a selvage part connected via a selvage yarn, which is a by-product of a carbon fiber fabric subject to increasing demand.SOLUTION: A technique according to this invention utilizes a selvage part 4, which is a side end part of a fabric and is generated in weaving the fabric using a carbon fiber 2, cut off and connected via a selvage yarn 5. The fabric is made into a filament by inserting the selvage part 4, which is cut off during weaving, into a pipe 6 with a prescribed diameter. A composite fiber 10 is formed by engaging a suture 8 made of thermoplastic synthetic fiber yarn and forming the yarn into a loop by rolling stitch around the filamentous selvage part 4. It is preferred that the thermoplastic synthetic fiber yarn is paralleled with the selvage part 4 made of the carbon fiber, around which the suture 8 made of thermoplastic synthetic fiber is engaged to form a loop by rolling stitch.
