PURPOSE: To obtain a fibrous structure suitable for a wadding member by laminating mats produced from fibers of polyester, polyamide, polyolefin, etc., and multi-component fibers or powder of such a polymer, heat-molding and surface- treating it.
CONSTITUTION: Solid or hollow polyester fibers, polyamide fibers, polyolefin fibers, or their mixture having 3-100 dtex fineness and cover 20 mm length are uniformly blended with solid or hollow multi-component conjugate fibers of polyester, polyamide or polyolefin having the same fineness and length or thermoplastic resin powder similar to such a polymer instead of the multi- component fibers and the blend is subjected to the heat treatment to form a mat. At least two mats are laminated as base layers, the surface layer of which is constituted of 40-100% multi-component fibers and additionally laminated with a decoration layer having specific gravity higher than that of the base layer on the surface. The laminate is subjected to heat forming, whose surface is then treated by calendering or using ray radiation or a hot plate to obtain the desired molded member.
