Abstract:
PURPOSE: To amplify a high frequency by forming an array of field emission cathode bodies, and a grid body structure formed out of a plurality of grid electrodes isolated from the cathode bodies and insulated from each other on a substrate. CONSTITUTION: A dielectric layer 8 and a conducting layer are stacked on top of each other on a substrate 2 having a cathode end 3, and masking and etching processes are repeated, thereby forming an extraction grid 4, a lens grid 5 and energy boost grid 6. In this case, electron beams emitted from a body structure 1 so made are substantially collimated. Also, a modulation strip line 10 is separated from the body structure 1 via an annular dielectric spacer 11 and a drift spacer 12 is formed in an annular dielectric spacer 13. Furthermore, the spacer 13 is fitted with a catcher strip line 14 separated from a collector anode 20 via an annular dielectric spacer 15. According to this construction, a high frequency can be dispersedly amplified.
