PURPOSE: To provide the titled cell exhibiting little abnormality in display caused by electrostatic charge without increasing the power consumption nor decreasing the reliability, by using an electrode covered with a dielectric material in combination with a liquid crystal having a specific resistance lowered by the addition of a non-liquid crystal compound.

CONSTITUTION: The objective liquid crystal display cell is furnished with an electrode covered with a dielectric material such as SiO2, ZrO2, Al2O3, etc. and contains a liquid crystal wherein the specific resistance is adjusted to 1×109W 5×1010 ohm-cm by adding an ionic compound (preferably tetrabutylammonium hydroxide, etc.) or an electron accepting compound (e.g. tetracyanoquinodimethane, etc.). The concentration of the additive is preferably 1W500ppm.

USE: Display for electronic calculator, automobile, game machine, computer terminal, etc.
