Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a flat image display which includes an energy conversion material layer converting electronic energy into photon energy. CONSTITUTION: An electron emitter 105 is provided for a layer of energy conversion material to place an intervening region 103, 142 between an energy conversion material and the electron emitter 105. A plenum 120 is provided between a backplane 106 and the electron emitter 105 by installing a backplane for enclosing 106 at a distance from the electron emitter 105 and generally in the opposite direction to the energy conversion means 111. A getter layer 109 is installed in the plenum 120 to ease the influence of ionic and molecular impurities which hit the electron emitter.
