Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stable filament assembly utilized in applications requiring generation of electrons, which may contribute to increasing the filament life and may enhance the stability of an electron stream.SOLUTION: A filament assembly 200 includes a core 204 and a filament 208. At least a central portion 228C of the filament 208 is disposed on the core 204. At least the central portion 228C may be straight or may have a shape in which the filament 208 follows a path that changes directions (high-resistance configuration). An electron emissive layer 112 is disposed on the core 204 so as to encapsulate at least the central portion 228.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
