PURPOSE: To provide filler for a packed column, in which a liquid film is formed on substantially the whole surface of the filler and efficient heat transfer and/or substance transfer is effected, by a method wherein a lyophilic film, containing a high liquid absorbing resin, is formed on the surface of a metallic base material.
CONSTITUTION: Lyophilic coating is coated or lyophilic sheet is adhered to form a lyophilic film on the surface of a metallic base material such as stainless steel, aluminum, copper or the like. The coating, used for this purpose, is constituted fundamentally of high liquid absorbing resin, carrier for the coating and organic solvent. High water absorbing resin is preferable to have the water absorption of 20g/g or more from the view point of hydrophilic performance while the average grain size of the same resin is smaller the better and is preferable to be 100μm or less. Upon manufacturing the coating, it is necessary to disperse the high lyophilic resin into the coating. The thickness of the coating film is necessary to be 15μm or larger with respect to the grain size of about 10μm, for example.
