PURPOSE: To obtain a filler which is excellent in abrasion resistance and applicability and inhibits crack formation by compounding a resin with a fine cellulose powder carrying an inorg. pigment.
CONSTITUTION: Particles of cellulose having particle sizes of 150 mesh or lower and ceramic balls 3 having diameters of 3-5mm are put into a ball mill 1 equipped with a cooling jacket 2 at the surrounding wall. A rotor 4 installed below a motor 5 is rotated so as to elevate the surface temp. of balls 3 to 90-120°C to thereby dry the particles and simultaneously to pulverize them to sizes of 100μm or lower, giving a fine cellulose powder. The powder is mixed with an inorg. pigment and given mechanical and thermal energy to cause the powder to carry the pigment in a state of biting the surface of the powder. 100--400 pts.wt. powder carrying the pigment is compound with 100 pts.wt. resin, giving the filler.
